15 Best Weight Loss Tips

1. Eat more vegetables, all of the time.

It’s that simple, I promise! If you think about making any meal mostly veggies (at least 50% of anything that you’re having), you’re on the right track to better health and weight loss.

2. Build a better breakfast.

All meals are important, but breakfast is what helps you start your day on the right track. The best, heartiest breakfasts are ones that will fill you up, keep you satisfied, and stave off cravings later in the day. Aim to eat anywhere between 400 and 500 calories for your morning meal, and make sure you're including a source of lean protein plus filling fat (e.g., eggs, unsweetened Greek yogurt, nuts, or nut butter) and fiber (veggies, fruit, or 100% whole grains). Starting your day with a blood sugar-stabilizing blend of nutrients will help you slim down without sacrifice.

3. Drink more coffee.

Start your day with a cup of joe. Caffeine is a natural diuretic, which can reduce bloating, and an excellent source of antioxidants, which protect your cells from damage. You can have up to 400 mg — about a venti Starbucks coffee — daily, according to the Dietary Guidelines for Americans.

Not much of a coffee drinker? Tea is also a natural diuretic, and types of herbal tea such as dandelion or fennel root can also lend a hand. In fact: When a recent study compared the metabolic effect of green tea (in extract) with that of a placebo, researchers found that the green tea drinkers burned about 70 additional calories in a 24-hour period.

4. Skip sugary beverages.

We just don't feel full of liquid calories in quite the same way as we do real food. Drinking a juice or caramel coffee drink just isn't as satisfying as eating a bowl of veggie- and protein-packed stir-fry. So monitor your intake of juice, soda, sweetened coffee and tea, and alcoholic beverages. If you consume each of those beverages during the day, you'll have taken in at least 800 extra calories by nighttime — and you'll still be hungry. (Incidentally, alcohol may suppress the metabolism of fat, making it tougher for you to burn those calories.)

5. Buy a set of 5-pound weights.

Strength training builds lean muscle tissue, which burns more calories — at work or at rest — 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The more lean muscle you have, the faster you'll slim down.

How do you start strength training? Try some push-ups or a few squats or lunges. Use your free weights to perform simple bicep curls or tricep extensions right in your home or office. Mix in some new ab, arm, back, and leg moves if you like. Strength training just three to four times per week can lead to rapid improvement in not only weight loss, but also range of motion, stability, and posture.

6. Eat spicy foods — seriously!

It can actually help you cut back on calories. That's because capsaicin, a compound found in jalapeƱo and cayenne peppers, may (slightly) increase your body's release of stress hormones such as adrenaline, which can speed up your ability to burn calories. What's more, eating hot peppers may help you eat more slowly and avoid overeating. You're less likely to wolf down that plate of spicy spaghetti — and therefore stay more mindful of when you're full. Some great choices besides hot peppers: ginger and turmeric.

7. Go to bed earlier.

There's a ton of research that demonstrates getting less than the desired amount — about seven hours — of sleep per night can slow down your metabolism. Plus, when you're awake for longer, you're naturally more likely to snack on midnight munchies. So don't skimp on your ZZZ's, and you'll be rewarded with an extra edge when it comes to losing weight.

8. Keep a food journal.

People who log everything they eat — especially those who log while they're eating — are more likely to lose weight and keep it off for the long haul, studies consistently indicate. The habit also takes less than 15 minutes per day on average when you do it regularly, according to a 2019 study published in Obesity.

Start tracking on an app like MyFitnessPal or use a regular notebook. It'll help you stay accountable for what you've eaten. Plus, you can easily identify areas that could use a little improvement when it's written out in front of you.

9. Take a walk!

Exercising at any time is good for you, but evening activity may be particularly beneficial because many people's metabolism slows down toward the end of the day. Thirty minutes of aerobic activity before dinner increases your metabolic rate and may keep it elevated for another two or three hours, even after you've stopped moving. Plus, it'll help you relax post-meal so you won't be tempted by stress-induced grazing that can rack up calories.

10. Resist the urge to skip a meal.

Skipping meals will not make you lose weight faster. If a hectic day makes a sit-down meal impossible, stash a piece of fruit and a pack of nut butter in your car or purse and keep snacks in your desk drawer — anything that will keep you from going hungry!

Going long periods of time without food does double-duty harm on our healthy eating efforts by both slowing down your metabolism, and priming you for a binge later in the day. (Think: You've skipped breakfast and lunch, so you're ready to takedown a whole turkey by dinner!) Make it your mission to eat three meals and two snacks every day, and don't wait longer than three to four hours without eating. Set a "snack alarm" on your phone if needed.

11. Eat your H2O.

Sure, drinking plenty of water can help combat bloating, but you can (and should!) also consume high-water content foods. Reach for cucumbers, tomatoes, watermelon, asparagus, grapes, celery, artichokes, pineapple, and cranberries — all of which contain diuretic properties that will also help you stay full due to their higher fiber content.

12. Munch on mineral-rich foods.

Potassium, magnesium, and calcium can help to serve as a counter-balance for bloat-inducing sodium. Foods that are rich in potassium include leafy greens, most "orange" foods (oranges, sweet potatoes, carrots, melon), bananas, tomatoes, and cruciferous veggies — especially cauliflower. Low-fat dairy, plus nuts, and seeds can also help give you a bloat-busting boost. They've also been linked to a whole host of additional health benefits, such as lowering blood pressure, controlling blood sugar, and reducing the risk of chronic disease overall.

13. Ignore the gimmicks.

At any given time, there are dozens of weight-loss hypes in the marketplace that claim to take off 10 pounds in 10 days or more. Desperation can tempt us to try anything — from "clean eating" to cutting out food groups entirely. Keep in mind: Just because an avocado-kale-salad dripping in coconut oil is deemed "clean" by a so-called "expert" on your Instagram feed does not make it an unlimited food. Moral of the story? Avoid fads, eat real food, watch some Netflix, and unwind (perhaps with a glass of wine in hand). Now that's my kind of detox.

14. Let yourself off the hook.

You already know that a perfect diet doesn't exist, but many of us still can't resist the urge to kick ourselves when we indulge, eat too much, or get thrown off course from restrictive diets. The problem: This only makes it more difficult, stressful, and downright impossible to lose weight. So rather than beating yourself up for eating foods, you think you shouldn't let it go. Treating yourself to about 200 calories worth of deliciousness each day — something that feels indulgent to you — can help you stay on track for the long haul, so allow yourself to eat, breathe, and indulge. Food should be joyful, not agonizing!

15. Look for our emblem on food labels.

Ultimately, long-term weight loss requires some short-term behavior change and healthier habit formation. That's why we created our Good Housekeeping Nutritionist Approved Emblem, which exists to help turn smart food choices into healthier eating habits. All GHNA foods and drinks make it easier to find — and eat — good-for-you foods without additional time, effort, and cost. We target the lifestyle-related factors that make healthier eating hard, and find simple but creative solutions that actually work! Look for the emblem on labels wherever you shop for food.

The New American Diet

I've outlined the basic principles of the diet below — follow these guidelines for just two weeks and you'll not only lose weight; you'll feel more energetic.

Have breakfast every day

Eating a healthy, nutrient-dense breakfast — one that includes protein, whole grains, and fruit — will help keep your insulin level steady all morning and prevent you from overeating later on. The National Weight Control Registry, a study of nearly 4,000 dieters who have lost weight and kept it off for up to six years, found that those who ate breakfast daily lost more weight and kept the weight off longer than those who didn't eat upon rising. Two good choices: an egg sandwich with strawberries, or whole-grain cereal with low-fat milk, and a banana.

Drink more water

Most of us don't realize how many calories we consume through sodas, juices, alcoholic drinks and other beverages. So I'd like you to try an experiment: Drink nothing except water and coffee for two weeks and just watch the pounds melt away. This includes diet soda. Research shows that diet sodas may increase the body's cravings for sugar-sweetened, high-calorie foods.

Get fishy

Fish is a crucial component of the AARP New American Diet. It has the good omega-3 fatty acids that you need for brain health, is low in calories, and contains important nutrients. The omega-3s in fish may also lower your risk of getting certain cancers and may improve some inflammatory conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis, the AARP-NIH study finds. Conversely, eating red and processed meats (think hot dogs and sausages) increases that risk so eats fewer of them.

Fill up on fruits and veggies

Some fad diets foolishly discourage eating fruit, but the AARP-NIH study clearly shows that incorporating fruits and vegetables into your daily diet will help you live longer. Consuming these antioxidant-rich foods can also result in weight loss even when you're not trying to drop pounds, researchers at Penn State found.

Embrace whole grains

Whole grains are a major source of not only vitamins and minerals but also fiber, and the AARP-NIH study shows they have extraordinary health benefits as well. Regularly consuming whole grains — whole wheat bread, whole-wheat pasta, and brown rice — can cut your risk of heart disease, respiratory illness, and some cancers, including colon and breast cancers. Plus, whole grains can help you lose weight, specifically belly fat that's linked to diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease.

Include low-fat dairy foods

Dairy foods are a rich source of calcium and vitamin D: Fully 30 percent of women over 50 are deficient in this bone-building vitamin. Plus, consuming low-fat dairy products can lead to weight loss. A study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that those with the highest daily low-fat dairy intake lost 38 percent more weight than those with the lowest.

Be wary of 'diet' foods

I can't tell you how many patients have actually gained weight on foods labeled as "low fat" or "fat-free." Often such products are loaded with sugar, to make up for the taste lost when the fat is removed. Since many "diet" foods are also highly processed, you end up getting fewer nutrients and lots of empty calories. Instead of diet fare, then, eat a small helping of a higher-fat food periodically.

Don't eat out for two weeks

Dining away from home is fraught with potential problems; you don't always know how the food is cooked, and you tend to eat larger portions than you should. Some experts estimate that restaurant portions can be three times larger than a "normal" serving size. So what is a healthy portion? Fruits and vegetables should be the size of your fist; meat should be no bigger than a deck of cards; fish should be the size of a checkbook.

Inspect food labels

Women who regularly read food labels are, on average, nine pounds lighter than those who don't do this, research from the U.S. National Health Interview Study found. You don't need a calculator; just scan labels for calories and other nutrients. Some brands of yogurt, for instance, have as much sugar as a candy bar. If one brand has 12 grams of sugar and another has 20, the choice is obvious.

Snack often

I told you the AARP New American Diet would be fun. The key is smart snacking. Data show that people who snack twice a day lose more weight than those who eat three large meals. One snack should be between breakfast and lunch; the other, between lunch and dinner. (No eating after 8 p.m.) Snacking helps keep insulin levels fairly constant, which can prevent hunger and overeating at lunch and dinner. Great healthy snacks include a handful of nuts, baby carrots, and hummus, or a piece of fruit.

Chew gum

Yes, chewing gum can help keep the weight off. And for a reason you may not have realized: Chewing gum releases hormones that signal your brain that you're full. This activity also helps if you're a "nibbler" — someone who tends to sample food while cooking or watching TV. You should always chew sugar-free gum; the sugared kind promotes tooth decay.

The Best Diet for Weight Loss

1. Do weight training.

Doing weight training is less effective for losing weight than cardio workouts but they help to keep the level of metabolism which is important when you are on a long-term diet. Weight training makes the metabolism much faster and doesn’t let the body switch to the low energy consumption mode.

But don’t forget to eat some protein after a workout: the muscles will get stronger and you won’t have any extra fat.

2. Change the caloric value during the week.

When we are on a diet, our smart bodies adapt to smaller amounts of food, cutting down energy consumption. In other words, the body adapts to the new living conditions, still conserving the extra pounds — in case there will be no food at all. And when you start eating fewer calories, the body understands that its decision was right.

In order to trick the body, you can use the caloric cycles. 2 days a week, you should eat about 1,000 or 1,200 kcal with almost no carbs, and the rest of the days, eat 1,500 kcal. This trick won’t let the metabolism slow down and will create the necessary caloric deficit.

3. Tell the difference between a real plateau and an imaginary one.

During the first days of the diet, extra fluids leave our bodies which makes the number on the scale drop quickly. But in order to lose just 1 lb, you need to have a 3,500-calorie deficit. It doesn’t matter how you achieve it, but the progress won’t be fast.

Many people think that losing weight slowly is a plateau, so they lose interest and drop the diet. Be patient and don’t step on the scale more than once a week: this way, the progress will seem bigger.

4. Eat more protein and vegetables.

Low-carbohydrate diets are believed to be the best strategy for losing weight. Protein and fiber make us full and increase the metabolism. Carbohydrates make the insulin level rise making us hungry. So if you are trying to lose weight, it’s better to eat a piece of low-fat meat rather than sweet fruit.

5. Change the exercises you do.

Thousands of years of fighting for survival taught our bodies one simple thing: resources should be saved by any means possible. After some time, the human body adapts to the exercises you do. So, after several weeks of similar workouts, the progress will definitely slow down.

There is only one solution: once every 1-1.5 months, you should change your workout program. There are a lot of different options: change out yoga for pilates, do new exercises, train new muscles that you haven’t before, and change the weights that you use.

6. Eat tasty food.

The ability to resist the urge to eat depends on the right function of the brain. However, if a person hasn’t eaten anything tasty for a long time, their brain starts to tell them that a piece of chocolate or a biscuit will give them much more joy than these foods really can.

This is why nutrition experts recommend including small portions of “prohibited” foods. If you let yourself relax from time to time, you have a smaller chance of losing control at some point and interrupting the diet.

7. Recalculate the caloric value of the food you eat.

The number of calories necessary for losing weight depends not only on physical activity but also on body mass. If an overweight person eats only 2,000 kcal a day, they will lose weight, and if a small woman does the same, she will gain weight.

Don’t forget to recalculate the caloric value of your food after every 10 pounds you lose.

8. Keep a strict sleeping schedule.

As scientists found out, it’s impossible to have bad sleep and lose weight in a healthy way. There are a lot of reasons why, but in short: if you don’t sleep enough, your body is stressed. Stress leads to feeling hungry and a change in metabolism. So be sure to sleep enough no matter what.

9. Count calories.

Scientists proved that people who lose weight without any supervision stop tracking what and how much they eat within several weeks. Of course, the progress stops and you can’t lose weight. So, you should always know how many calories you eat.

10. Take body characteristics into account.

Everyone knows that right before the beginning of the menstrual cycle, women’s bodies retain much more water, just like when people drink too much water (especially before sleep), eat salty foods, drink alcohol, and eat dairy products. You should take into account the individual reaction to different foods in different people. So, analyze what you eat and how it influences your body.

For example, the author of the article couldn’t lose weight because of eating too many tomatoes. Yes, they are vegetables and they don’t have any extra calories, but for some reason, in this woman’s case, they didn’t let water leave her body.

After you stop eating some foods, the swelling will disappear within the next 2 days. So don’t let several extra pounds make you panic and desperate. Forget about the scale and use a tape measure ribbon: it will easily prove that you are making progress.

Have you ever had the plateau effect when you tried to lose weight? How did you deal with it? Share your experience in the comment section below.

25 Best Diet Tips to Lose Weigh

Let’s face it — there’s an overwhelming amount of information on the Internet about how to quickly shed pounds and get in shape.

If you’re looking for the best tips on how to lose weight and keep it off, this seemingly endless amount of advice can be overwhelming and confusing.

From the diets promoting raw foods to meal plans that revolve around shakes and prepackaged foods, a new fad diet seems to pop up every day.

The problem is, although very restrictive diets and elimination meal plans will most likely result in short-term weight loss, most people can’t maintain them and end up throwing in the towel within a few weeks.

Although losing 10 pounds (4.5 kg) in a week by following a fad diet may seem tempting, the reality is that this type of weight loss is often unhealthy and unsustainable.

The real key to safe and successful weight loss is to adopt a healthy lifestyle that suits your individual needs and that you can maintain for life.

The following tips are healthy, realistic ways to get you back on track and headed towards your weight and fitness goals.

1. Fill up on Fiber

Fiber is found in healthy foods including vegetables, fruits, beans, and whole grains.

Some studies have shown that simply eating more fiber-rich foods may help you lose weight and keep it off. Increasing your intake is as easy as adding beans to your salad, eating oats for breakfast or snacking on fiber-rich nuts and seeds.

2. Ditch Added Sugar

Added sugar, especially from sugary drinks, is a major reason for unhealthy weight gain and health problems like diabetes and heart disease.

Plus, foods like candy, soda, and baked goods that contain lots of added sugars tend to be very low in the nutrients your body needs to stay healthy.

Cutting out foods high in added sugars is a great way to lose excess weight.

It’s important to note that even foods promoted as “healthy” or “organic” can be very high in sugar. Therefore, reading nutrition labels is a must.

3. Make Room for Healthy Fat

While fat is often the first thing that gets cut when you’re trying to slim down, healthy fats can actually help you reach your weight loss goals.

In fact, following a high-fat diet that’s rich in foods like olive oil, avocados and nuts have been shown to maximize weight loss in several studies.

What’re more, fats help you stay fuller for longer, decreasing cravings and helping you stay on track.

4. Minimize Distractions

While consuming meals in front of your TV or computer may not seem like diet sabotage, eating while distracted may cause you to consume more calories and gain weight.

Eating at the dinner table, away from potential distractions, is not only a good way to keep your weight down — but it also allows you time to reconnect with loved ones.

Smartphones are another device you should set aside while you’re eating. Scrolling through emails or your Instagram or Facebook feed is just as distracting as a TV or computer.

5. Walk Your Way to Health

Many people believe they must adopt a rigorous exercise routine to jumpstart weight loss.

While different types of activity are important when you’re attempting to get in shape, walking is an excellent and easy way to burn calories.

In fact, just 30 minutes of walking per day has been shown to aid in weight loss.

Plus, it’s an enjoyable activity that you can do both indoors and outside at any time of day.

6. Bring out Your Inner Chef

Cooking more meals at home has been shown to promote weight loss and healthy eating.

Although eating meals at restaurants is enjoyable and can fit into a healthy diet plan, focusing on cooking more meals at home is a great way to keep your weight in check.

What’s more, preparing meals at home allows you to experiment with new, healthy ingredients while saving you money at the same time.

7. Have a Protein-Rich Breakfast

Including protein-rich foods like eggs in your breakfast has been shown to benefit weight loss.

Simply swapping your daily bowl of cereal for a protein-packed scramble made with eggs and sauteed veggies can help you shed pounds.

Increasing protein intake in the morning may also help you avoid unhealthy snacking and improve appetite control throughout the day.

8. Don’t Drink Your Calories

While most people know they should avoid sodas and milkshakes, many people don’t realize that even drinks advertised to boost athletic performance or improve health can be loaded with unwanted ingredients.

Sports drinks, coffee beverages, and flavored waters tend to be very high in calories, artificial colorings, and added sugar.

Even juice, which is often promoted as a healthy beverage, can lead to weight gain if you consume too much.

Focus on hydrating with water to minimize the number of calories you drink throughout the day.

9. Shop Smart

Creating a shopping list and sticking to it is a great way to avoid buying unhealthy foods impulsively.

Plus, making a shopping list has been shown to lead to healthier eating and promote weight loss.

Another way to limit unhealthy purchases at the grocery store is to have a healthy meal or snack before you go shopping.

Studies have shown that hungry shoppers tend to reach for higher-calorie, unhealthy foods.

10. Stay Hydrated

Drinking enough water throughout the day is good for overall health and can even help you maintain a healthy weight.

One study of over 9,500 people found that those who were not adequately hydrated had higher body mass indexes (BMIs) and were more likely to be obese than those who were properly hydrated.

What’s more, people who drink water before meals have been shown to eat fewer calories.

11. Practice Mindful Eating

Rushing through meals or eating on the go may lead you to consume too much, too quickly.

Instead, be mindful of your food, focusing on how each bite tastes. It may lead you to be more aware of when you are full, decreasing your chances of overeating.

Focusing on eating slowly and enjoying your meal, even if you have limited time, is a great way to reduce overeating.

12. Cut Back on Refined Carbs

Refined carbs include sugars and grains that have had their fiber and other nutrients removed. Examples include white flour, pasta, and bread.

These types of foods are low in fiber, are digested quickly, and only keep you full for a short period of time.

Instead, choose sources of complex carbohydrates like oats, ancient grains like quinoa and barley, or veggies like carrots and potatoes.

They’ll help keep you fuller for longer and contain many more nutrients than refined sources of carbohydrates.

13. Lift Heavier to Get Lighter

Although aerobic exercise like brisk walking, running and biking is excellent for weight loss, many people tend to focus solely on cardio and don’t add strength training to their routines.

Adding weight lifting to your gym routine can help you build more muscle and tone your entire body.

What’s more, studies have shown that weight lifting gives your metabolism a small boost, helping you burn more calories throughout the day, even when you are at rest.

14. Set Meaningful Goals

Fitting into jeans from high school or looking better in a swimsuit are popular reasons why people want to lose weight.

However, it’s much more meaningful to truly understand why you want to lose weight and the ways that weight loss may positively affect your life. Having these goals in mind may help you stick to your plan.

Being able to play tag with your children or having the stamina to dance all night at a loved one’s wedding are examples of goals that can keep you committed to a positive change.

15. Avoid Fad Diets

Fad diets are promoted for their ability to help people lose weight fast.

However, these diets tend to be very restrictive and not easy to maintain. This leads to yo-yo dieting, where people lose pounds, only to gain them back.

While this cycle is common in those trying to shape up quickly, yo-yo dieting has been linked to a greater increase in body weight over time.

Additionally, studies have shown that yo-yo dieting can increase the risk of diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, and metabolic syndrome.

These diets may be tempting, but finding a sustainable, healthy eating plan that nourishes your body instead of depriving it is a much better choice.

16. Eat Whole Foods

Keeping track of exactly what is going into your body is a great way to get healthy.

Eating whole foods that don’t come with an ingredient list ensures that you are nourishing your body with natural, nutrient-dense foods.

When purchasing foods with ingredient lists, less is more.

If a product has lots of ingredients that you are unfamiliar with, chances are it is not the healthiest option.

17. Buddy Up

If you are having trouble sticking to a workout routine or healthy eating plan, invite a friend to join you and help you stay on track.

Studies show that people who slim down with a friend are more likely to stick with weight loss and exercise programs. They also tend to lose more weight than those who go it alone.

Plus, having a friend or family member with the same health and wellness goals can help you stay motivated while having fun at the same time.

18. Don’t Deprive Yourself

Telling yourself that you will never have your favorite foods again is not only unrealistic, but it may also set you up for failure.

Depriving yourself will only make you want the forbidden food more and may cause you to binge when you finally cave in.

Making room for appropriate indulgences here and there will teach you self-control and keep you from feeling resentful of your new, healthy lifestyle.

Being able to enjoy a small portion of a homemade dessert or indulging in a favorite holiday dish is part of having a healthy relationship with food.

19. Be Realistic

Comparing yourself to models in magazines or celebrities on TV is not only unrealistic — it can also be unhealthy.

While having a healthy role model can be a great way to stay motivated, being overly critical of yourself can set you back and may lead to unhealthy behaviors.

Try focusing on how you feel rather than concentrating on how you look. Your main motivation should be to get happier, fitter, and healthier.

20. Veg Out

Vegetables are loaded with fiber and the nutrients your body craves.

What’s more, increasing your vegetable intake can help you lose weight.

In fact, studies show that simply eating a salad before a meal can help you feel full, causing you to eat less.

Additionally, filling up on veggies throughout the day can help you maintain a healthy weight and may decrease your risk of developing chronic diseases like heart disease and diabetes.

21. Snack Smart

An easy way to help shed pounds or maintain a healthy weight is to make an effort to have healthy snacks available at home, in your car, and at your place of work.

For example, stashing pre-portioned servings of mixed nuts in your car or having cut-up veggies and hummus ready in your fridge can help you stay on track when a craving strikes.

22. Fill the Void

Studies have shown that being bored contributes to an increase in overall calorie consumption because it influences people to eat more food, healthy and unhealthy.

Finding new activities or hobbies that you enjoy is an excellent way to avoid overheating caused by boredom.

Simply going for a walk and enjoying nature can help get you in a better mindset to stay motivated and stick to your wellness goals.

23. Make Time for Yourself

Creating a healthier lifestyle means finding the time to put yourself first, even if you don’t think it’s possible.

Life often gets in the way of weight loss and fitness goals, so it is important to create a plan that includes personal time and stick to it.

Responsibilities like work and parenting are some of the most important things in life, but your health should be one of your top priorities.

Whether that means preparing a healthy lunch to bring to work, going for a run, or attending a fitness class, setting aside time to take care of yourself can do wonders for both your physical and mental health.

24. Find Workouts You Actually Enjoy

The great thing about choosing a workout routine is that there are endless possibilities.

While sweating through a spin class might not be your cup of tea, mountain biking in a park might be more up your alley.

Certain activities burn more calories than others. However, you shouldn’t choose a workout based solely on the results you think you’ll get from it.

It’s important to find activities that you look forward to doing and that make you happy. That way you are more likely to stick with them.

25. Support Is Everything

Having a group of friends or family members that supports you in your weight and wellness goals is critical for successful weight loss.

Surrounding yourself with positive people who make you feel good about creating a healthy lifestyle will help you stay motivated and on track.

In fact, studies have shown that attending support groups and having a strong social network helps people lose weight and keep it off.

Sharing your goals with trustworthy and encouraging friends and family can help you stay accountable and set you up for success.

If you don’t have a supportive family or group of friends, try joining a support group. There are a large number of groups that meet in person or online.
